Hailing from a small town in Maryland and now calling Virginia home, Eric Selby is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose music draws from multiple genres including Americana, folk, and roots traditions. His songs are shaped by a lifetime of playing, listening, and observing the world around him. Nestled near the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains, Eric draws inspiration for his sound, both deeply personal and universally resonant, from the natural beauty surrounding him, channeling it into songs rich with emotion, texture, and thought provoking lyrics.
Growing up as the youngest of five brothers in a musical household, Selby began playing drums at an early age and went on to become a seasoned professional musician, performing and recording with an impressive range of artists across blues, folk, rock and Americana. Along the way, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and earned multiple WAMMIE Award nominations. All four of Eric's previous albums have been named Roots Music Report's (RMR) Best of the Year, with his last record, Starting To Sync In, landing in the Top 10 National Alternative Folk Albums of the Year.
Eric's fifth and latest solo release for Soul Stew Records, entitled Five, showcases his talent for blending genres. Recorded in Nashville, TN, Five features an all-star lineup, including Seth Rausch (Don Felder, Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow), John Thomasson (Little Big Town, Juliana Hatfield), Luis Espaillat (The Guess Who, Trace Adkins, Jim Messina), and Justin Ostrander (Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Steven Tyler). The final touch came from Andy Walter at London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios, whose mastering credits include The Beatles, David Bowie, and Radiohead, ensuring the record’s sonic depth and cohesion.
With Five, Selby offers his most honest and reflective work yet. This is a record rooted in experience, emotion, and a deep respect for the craft of songwriting. In 2026, Five was named in Roots Music Report's (RMR) National Top 10 Alternative Folk Albums.
